Dear Mr. President:

I was appalled to read that your administration was advocating Israeli
restraint in the face of Islamic terror. I have attached an article at the
end of this letter from the March 1 edition of the Jerusalem Post where your
spokesman advocated such restraint.

That is not the policy you promised the American people when you said on
September 20 before a joint session of Congress that "From this day forward
any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by
the United States as a hostile regime." That is not the policy you promised
Americans when you said in that same speech that "We will direct every
resource at our command -- every means of diplomacy every tool of
intelligence every instrument of law enforcement every financial influence
and every necessary weapon of war -- to the disruption and to the defeat of
the global terror network. "

Arafat's Palestinian Authority with its smuggling of 50 tons of weapons on
the Karine A with its suicide bombers smuggled in its Red Crescent
ambulances to murder 81 year old men in the heart of Jerusalem and 16 year
old girls in the pizza shops of Judea with its accumulation and use of
weapons it pledged never to possess has amply demonstrated that it has
thrown its lot in with that of the global terror network. Therefore they
are enemies of America and should be defeated--quickly and completely--just
like their Taliban and Al Qaida brethren in Afghanistan.

Please encourage Israel not to exercise restraint but rather to act
decisively and powerfully to end Arafat's reign of terror. Place the blame
where it belongs for the regrettable but unavoidable civilian casualties that
will be part of that campaign--on the shoulders of the Palestinian Authority
which has deliberately placed its bomb factories and terror camps in civilian
areas. The destruction of Arafat's axis of evil will not only make the
Middle East safer for Israel but make the world safer for America.

Sincerely

>From the Jerusalem Post March 1 2002:
Following the incursion the US urged the (Israeli) government to exercise
restraint.

"We do believe it's extremely important that every possible effort be made to
avoid harm to civilians. The United States is concerned about the present
situation on the ground especially in the Balata refugee camp" State
Department spokesman Richard Boucher told a news briefing.

"We've been in touch with the Israeli government to urge that the utmost
restraint be exercised to avoid harm to the civilian population."

Boucher said Secretary of State Colin Powell telephoned Prime Minister Ariel
Sharon before the situation at the camps developed extensively. He said they
talked about the need for continuing steps to stop the violence and to
continue Israeli-Palestinian security cooperation.

He said the issue of restraint had been raised by the US Embassy.
