From: MElsant@aol.com Date: Wed 27 Mar 2002 Subject: Support Israel not Zinni's new safe harbor for Islamic terror!! (VIPAC) --part1_23.1b9d5b81.29d39d7a_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Dear Mr. President: On March 26 Karin Laub of the Associated Press reported the following from Jerusalem: "In a nod to the Palestinians Zinni did not back Israel's demand that many militants suspected of terrorist activities during the 18 months of fighting be arrested said the officials who spoke on condition of anonymity. According to Israel's Yediot Ahronot newspaper Israel has a list of 105 such militants. Zinni agreed the Palestinians could arrest only so-called ``ticking bombs'' and anyone carrying out attacks from the moment the cease-fire is signed they said." Mr. President that is the same bill of goods Arafat sold upon signing the original Oslo Accords many years ago. Arafat's line back then was that Israel should release terrorists who committed their crimes before the Oslo Accords were signed. In return Arafat offered that any Palestinian who attacked Israelis after the Oslo Accords were signed would be considered a criminal by all parties and even extradited by the Palestinian Authority to Israel upon request. We are now many years past that time when Israel accepted that deal with the devil and released hundreds of Palestinian terrorists with blood on their hands. And as it turned out Arafat never kept his part of the bargain. He even refused to extradite to Israel the murderers of Israeli Cabinet Minister Rechavam Ze'evi. And now Zinni is asking Israel to reset the clock on acceptable Arab terrorism once again. Only those terrorists who continue to ply their trade after signing a "Zinni" agreement will be subject to arrest and none subject to extradition. Your administration is urging--practically coercing--Israel to agree to this arrangement because this time Arafat REALLY means it. Please stop your administration's pressure on Israel to surrender to Arafat's terrorism. America is fighting a war against Islamic terrorism and your administration should not undercut its soldiers in the field by rewarding Arafat's Islamic terror. Please publicly rebuke Zinni for suggesting such a dishonorable agreement which calls for establishing a new safe harbor in time for Arafat's terrorists. And publicly urge Prime Minister Sharon to follow your administration's example in Afghanistan as Israel wages its war against Arafat's Islamic terror.
