Dear Mr. President:

Thank you for supporting Israel in your recent comments at Crawford Texas on
March 30. You were right on target courageously so when you said: "I
fully understand Israel's need to defend herself; I respect that. It's a
country that has seen a wave of suicide bombers coming to the heart of her
cities and killing innocent people. And that country has a right to defend
herself."

That is why I find it inexplicable and indefensible that within 24 hours of
your making the above remarks your administration voted for a UN Security
Council resolution demanding that Israel withdraw its troops from Ramallah.
How can Israel defend herself against Arafat's terrorism if you insist on
granting Arafat a safe harbor in Ramallah? Indeed as the New York Times
reported on March 31 on page A10 regarding your administration's support of
this UN resolution "This was the second American vote in the Council within
a month that took a position considered tough on Israel and in today's case
at odds with comments from Washington."

Please stop supporting UN resolutions that criticize Israel for defending
itself. Please stop insisting that Arafat be granted a safe harbor for
Islamic terrorism anywhere including Ramallah. Please congratulate Israel
for every one of Arafat's terrorists that it kills or captures instead of
issuing morally bankrupt complaints regretting the loss of life on all sides.
The loss of life of Islamic terrorists is a laudable strategic goal for
which American soldiers are risking their own lives on the battlefields of
Afghanistan. It should not be equated--in either your administration's
rhetoric or UN resolutions--with the cruel suffering of the victims of
Islamic terror.

Sincerely
