From: MElsant@aol.com Date: Sun 21 Apr 2002 Subject: Support Israel America's ally in the fight against Islamic Terror! (VIPAC) Dear Mr. President: I want to thank you for taking a more understanding tone towards Israel. You made it clear that you understand the reasons why Prime Minister Sharon was unable to order an immediate withdrawal from Judea and Samaria. You also repeatedly called Prime Minister Sharon a "man of peace" which he is and pointedly refrained from calling Arafat "a man of peace" which he is not. Also you agreed with Mr. Sharon's desire to bring the murderers of Tourism Minister Ze'evi to justice. Furthermore you underscored the need for Yasser Arafat to produce deeds not just words in the fight against Islamic terror. All this is welcome relief. Starting with your April 4th speech when you described as equally tragic figures the Palestinian girl who chose to become a homicide bomber and the Israeli girl who was her victim you and your staff seemed to be suggesting a moral equivalency between those who commit terror and those who are its victims. Your more recent remarks in support of Israel signal a change in the right direction. You seem to be returning to the moral clarity in our war against Islamic terrorism that your administration so admirably demonstrated after September 11. I fervently hope you and your staff will continue to strongly support Israel in her struggle to survive. America and Israel share the same enemy of Islamic terror and if we stick together we can share the same triumph over that terror.
