Subject: Support Israel! End US aid to Arafat's reign of terror! (VIPAC)

Dear Mr. President:

As I am sure you know on May 21 the State Department released its annual
report "Patterns of Global Terrorism." It listed the total death toll from
Palestinian terrorism for all of 2001 at 56. Unfortunately it appears that
the State Department deemed 86 attacks and 146 fatal victims of Palestinian
terror during 2001 as insignificant. This appears to be a terrible omission.

Among the attacks and victims the State Department failed to report were the
assassination of tourism minister Rehavam Ze'evi on October 17; the massacre
of 15 (including one Philippine national) on an Egged bus in Haifa on
December 2; the murder of 10 Israelis in an attack on a Dan bus outside of
Emmanuel on December 12; the March 26 murder of 10-month-old Shalhevet Pass
gunned down by sniper fire while being wheeled in her baby carriage at a
playground in Hebron; or the murder of five and wounding of 100 Israelis
blown up by a Palestinian terrorist outside a shopping mall in Netanya on May
18 to name just a few examples.

Congressman Tom Lantos (D-CA) characterized this report as "misleading
fundamentally inaccurate and to be generous incredibly sloppy."
Congressman Lantos also declared that the report constitutes "a crude and
transparent attempt to exonerate [Yasser Arafat] rather than reveal the
truth."

Please support Congressman Lantos' courage and honesty and publicly
repudiate this biased report from the State Department that seeks to
whitewash terrorism. Please once again denounce Arafat's terrorism. And
please show the world you are serious about fighting Islamic terrorism by
announcing an end to the $300 million dollars in aid your administration is
currently sending to the PLO in fiscal 2002.

Once again thank you for fighting terrorism around the world and including
Palestinian terrorists in this fight.

Sincerely
