From: moishb@vipac.org Date: Thu 7 Dec 2006 Subject: Support Israel: Linkage of Israel to Iraqi Unrest is Counter Support Israel: Linkage of Israel to Iraqi Unrest is Counter Productive to the Cause of Democracy in the Middle East Dear Mr. President: I am totally aghast at the linkage by the Baker Commission of the Israel-Palestinian Arab dispute to the current state of unrest in Iraq. The connection of Iran and Syria to unrest in Iraq and Lebanon is evident and the blatant attempt to appease these colonial imperialist countries at the expense of Israel is counter productive to your efforts to spread democracy in the Middle-East. For decades Israel has made overtures to the Arabs of the Middle-East. The Arabs have consistently answered with terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians. The unrest in Iraq is the result of decades of oppression by the regime of Sadam Hussein and the support of the various opposing factions by Al Qaeda Iran and Syria. The unrest in Iraq has little if anything to with the Palestinian Arab war against Israel. The Iraqi people under the dictator Sadam Hussein applauded terrorist murders committed in Jerusalem. They cheered at the death and destruction caused by their co-religionists on 9/11. Despite their oppression by a despotic regime they sent monetary support to the families of suicide murderers in Arab occupied areas of Israel. The support by your Administration of Israel the only democratic state in the Middle East is crucial to the development of peaceful institutions in the area of the World. We must encourage the democratic institutions in Lebanon Iraq and Jordan. But not at the expense of our democratic friends in Israel! We all desire peace between the Arabs and Israel. But to say that the Arab-Israel conflict is the cause of the Iraqi insurgency is off-base. I urge you to continue your support of Israel. The attempt to lay the blame of Arab unrest in Iraq on Israel is absurd and counter productive.
