From: melsant@vipac.org Date: Fri 23 Feb 2007 Subject: [Vipac-letters] Support Israel! No Bush Funding for Abbas PLO Sender: vipac-letters-bounces@vipac.org Errors-To: vipac-letters-bounces@vipac.org Dear Mr. President: Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) president Morton A. Klein stated that the Mahmoud Abbas' recent invitations to other terrorist groups to join his government represent "further proof that Mahmoud Abbas is not a moderate peace-maker that so many claim him to be but is in fact an extremist terrorist committed to Fatah's long-standing goal of destroying Israel. This should not be so surprising in light of his recent statement that 'our rifles all our rifles are aimed at the Occupation [Israel].'" In the United States Congress Representative Nita M. Lowey Democrat of New York is blocking $86 million that your administration wants to give to Mr. Abbas?s security forces. An aide to Ms. Lowey said she would lift the hold when the State Department provided guarantees that the money would be used only for nonlethal security assistance like uniforms and communications equipment. Mr. President in view of Abbas' recent invitation to terror groups to join his government and in view of his pledge to use his rifles against Israel please reconsider the $86 million you are trying to give to the PLO leader. Please acknowledge the legitimacy of Representative Lowey's efforts in Congress and Morton Klein's arguments outside of Congress and join them in ending all your administration's efforts at funding Palestinian Arab terror. Sincerely |
