From: melsant@vipac.org Date: Fri 7 Sep 2007 Subject: [Vipac-letters] Support Israeli Destruction of Hamas Missiles Sender: vipac-letters-bounces@vipac.org Errors-To: vipac-letters-bounces@vipac.org Dear Mr. President: On Monday Sept. 3 while Americans were celebrating the Labor Day holiday the Israelis of Sderot had nothing to celebrate. On that day the Jerusalem Post reports that: "In total seven Kassam rockets landed in and around the western Negev town as Sderot children started their second day of the new school year. The Islamic Jihad said they had fired nine Kuds-3 rockets saying on their internet site that the attack was "a present for the start of the new school year." Mr. President you are planning a highly publicized meeting between Israel and Palestinian Arabs in two months. If you do not now insist on the destruction of all Kassam launchers in Gaza INCLUDING THOSE USING HUMAN SHIELDS IN CIVILIAN GAZA NEIGHBORHOODS your conference will have no chance for success. If even this extreme instance of Hamas in Gaza hiding behind their children so they can better target Israeli children doesn't lead you to call upon Israel for immediate total destruction of the entire Hamas arsenal no matter where it is sheltered then you are no longer a champion against Islamic terror. The people of Israel and their supporters here in America will then know they can no longer count on you in a crisis. And the Islamist terrorists will then know they can attack at will without suffering negative consequences from your administration. So neither side will take your conference this November very seriously. Mr. President now is the time for you to declare just as you would not tolerate missiles from Cuba fired at school children in Miami so Israel should not tolerate missiles from Gaza fired at their children. And just as in World War 2 when America destroyed the Axis military machine even when it was placed among hundreds of thousands of civilians so too should Israel destroy the Hamas military arsenal no matter where it is. Such a bold and righteous stance against the Islamic terror that threatens America as well as Israel has prospects for success as it did in World War 2. However your toleration of terror although pleasing the State Department won't bring victory in America's international fight for survival against Islamist extremism. Sincerely |
