Dear Sir:

In a letter to the editor of The New York Times dated June 12 2003 the
Honorable Edward I. Koch the former mayor of the City of New York
criticized a Times editorial for equating “the Israeli victims and their
government with the Palestinian terrorists who deliberately assault and
murder civilians.” The Mayor accused the President of making the same
error by “criticizing the Israeli government by saying he was deeply
troubled by the Israeli efforts to kill Dr. Abdel Aziz Rantisi a Hamas
leader…responsible for planning the recent attacks that followed the joint
announcement of the peace plan and that killed four Israeli soldiers… Why
shouldn’t Israel hunt Dr. Rantisi down just as the United States hunts
down Osama bin Laden and other terrorists?”

It is time for all of us to recognize that the war Israel is fighting
against Arab terrorists is the same war our country is fighting. If we
allow the terrorists the safety of the Palestinian areas of Israel they
will be planning attacks against American interests from these areas just
as they used Afghanistan and Iraq and are using Saudi Arabia and Iran. We
must provide our Israeli allies with our full support in their continuing
war against the Arabs. There can be no “Road Map” unless all terror stops.

There can be no reward for terror whether supported by Arafat or carried
out by Hamas Islamic Jihad or the Arafat Aksa Martyr's Brigades. The
Arabs are in the midst of a “Hundred Years” against the Jews. It must come
to an end.

There can be no double standard. I urge you to support Israel’s war
against terror and put a stop on the “Road Map” until the Arab terror

Respectfully yours
